1.       No Energy

Lil Catch 22 here. These people are basically saying that they don’t want to put on a blanket because the blanket is cold…. However, if someone is feeling a net loss in energy as a result of exercise then that person is over-doing their workout.

2.       No Time

You give time to whatever is most important to you. See #6. The most noble version of this one is when they are taking care of other people (kids/elderly parents etc.) to such a large degree that they have opted out of self-care. Martyrdom can be nice.

3.       Sedentary numbness

It’s possible to get pretty far in life without feeling the effects of lack of physical activity. It depends how numb your body is to the pain of inactivity. Human statue performers can only hold still for 2 minutes at a time. Try it - it’s painful! Eventually though people get motivated to avoid the wheelchair or stave off diabetes. This is making decisions out of fear.

4.       too Overwhelming

It can be if you’re competing on a Olympic level, but it’s not as complicated as they make it appear. A few months with the right trainer and you’ll have skills for life.

5.       No Money for a Gym

While being at a gym certainly gives a nice motivational environment, they can go Google pictures of extremely muscular people who do only ‘calisthenics’ or body weight exercise and stop fibbing themselves. See my equipment article and my Youtube video about low equipment training.

6.       got Other priorities

Such as picking out a wheel chair and painkillers.

7.       Impatient

Try forcing a flower to bloom. You can pick a sustainable pace.

8.       Poor Expectations

A rollercoaster of emotion awaits the exerciser who only works out to manipulate their body. Find internal and untouchable benefits to exercise (mental things…like the destressing effect activity has). Everything else is a byproduct.

9.       Social Influences

Being surrounded by sedentary friends is like quicksand. Don’t think that anyone is immune. Subconsciously people don’t want us to escape their level of misery.

10.      No Team spirit

You don’t have to have a pressuring ‘accountability buddy’. Just someone who firmly inquires about if you are getting what you want or not.

11.       It Hurts

Often someone will annihilate themselves, unsure of when they’ll be motivated to exercise again...and in doing do they get so sore that they don’t want to repeat that experience. This typically happens for people in a desperate rush to make changes.
